The application, Food Scanner, offers a user-friendly experience. By simply selecting a product and entering its barcode in the designated scan field, the software automatically retrieves and displays essential details regarding the product's nutritional value.

Information provided about products includes:

• Nutri-Score - Indicating the healthiness level of the food product
• Food Category
• Ingredients
• Presence of allergens
• Nutritional value breakdown (calories, low-fat content, saturated fat content, sugar, salt)
• Food classification according to the NOVA system based on processing level

Further elaboration on the NOVA classification:

1. Unprocessed or minimally processed foods (e.g., fruits, vegetables, eggs, meat, milk)
2. Foods processed in home kitchens for preservation purposes (e.g., fats, herbs)
3. Processed foods combining categories 1 and 2 for domestic products (e.g., bread, jams)
4. Ultra-processed foods containing additives and rarely used home-cooking ingredients (e.g., soy protein)

Ultra-processed foods are typically energy-dense items with high sugar, unhealthy fat, and salt contents. They often lack essential nutrients like dietary fibers, proteins, vitamins, and minerals.
